Congressman Michael Cloud, representing Texas’ 27th district since 2018, has shared his perspectives on various policy issues through a series of tweets. Cloud, who succeeded Blake Farenthold in Congress and holds a degree from Oral Roberts University, often addresses topics relevant to federal workforce management, firearm regulation, and judicial protection.
On May 13, 2025, Congressman Cloud emphasized the distinction between reducing the federal workforce composed largely of teleworkers and cutting Social Security benefits. He stated that this approach leads to “cheaper, more efficient service,” highlighting the advantages of utilizing technology and reducing office costs. His remarks were shared during an appearance on NEWSMAX. “It’s important to point out that cutting back a federal workforce largely made up of teleworkers is not the same as cutting Social Security benefits.”
Later that day, Cloud discussed legislative efforts related to firearm suppressors. He expressed support for the SHUSH Act alongside Senator Mike Lee. The act aims to eliminate taxes and delays for law-abiding citizens accessing suppressors. Cloud argued that when exercising rights becomes nearly impossible due to regulation, it amounts to infringement. “The SHUSH Act is simple—law-abiding Americans shouldn’t be taxed and delayed to access a suppressor.”
On May 14, 2025, Congressman Cloud commented on Judge Conrad’s views concerning judicial protection and impeachment threats. While he agreed with safeguarding judges from harm, he underscored impeachment as a constitutional mechanism for checks and balances. He likened dismissing impeachment’s significance to ignoring electoral accountability. “Today, Judge Conrad lumped together protecting judges from hurt and threats of impeachment.”
Michael Cloud was born in Baton Rouge in 1975 and currently resides in Victoria.
