Congressman Michael Cloud, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 27th district since 2018, recently shared his thoughts on various issues through a series of tweets. Cloud, born in Baton Rouge and a graduate of Oral Roberts University, voiced concerns about energy loans, government accountability, and sports records.
On May 7, 2025, Congressman Cloud highlighted a significant increase in energy loans under the Biden administration. “In just 76 days, the Biden administration rushed out nearly $100 BILLION in energy loans—more than double what was committed in the last 15 years. That should have been a headline moment, but it was barely noticed.” He expressed concern over this rapid financial commitment by referencing Secretary Wright’s statement on the matter.
Later that day, Cloud reflected on past political figures while addressing contemporary challenges. “Reagan and O’Neill were great for their years, but we’re facing a new reality now.” He pointed to findings under the Trump Administration where taxpayer dollars allegedly funded terrorist organizations. Cloud noted these revelations as indicative of unprecedented levels of corruption and malfeasance.
In another tweet posted shortly after, Cloud commented on recent athletic achievements by high school boys in Texas. “High school boys in Texas just beat women’s world-record times in nearly every race.” Reflecting humorously on his own track experiences, he questioned whether he could retroactively identify as a world-class champion instead of acknowledging his past performance as mediocre.
Michael Cloud continues to represent his constituents from Victoria with a focus on transparency and accountability.
