On April 9, 2025, Congressman Cloud pointed out the financial burden caused by underutilized leased office spaces. According to Cloud, “This inefficiency results in significant waste. The same report highlighted that the federal government spends about $7 billion annually on leases for office spaces that remain largely unused.” He added that the expectation of cost savings from teleworking has not materialized, leaving the government to incur billions in expenses.
In a follow-up tweet on the same day, Cloud emphasized the need to optimize the management of federal properties, stating that “Empty buildings without workers in them is not a public service to the people who pay taxes.” He advocates for streamlining federal real estate to reduce waste and save taxpayer dollars, aligning with the agenda for a more accountable government.
Cloud continued his commentary on April 10, 2025, regarding the congressional workload. He announced a delay in a significant legislative vote, writing that “Tonight’s vote on the Senate Amendment to the House Budget Resolution has been postponed until tomorrow with much progress being made.” According to Cloud, the resolution represents a critical path toward implementing former President Trump’s America First agenda, asserting the responsibility to prioritize the needs of the American citizens.
