Corpus Christi Mayor Joe McComb and the City Council held a public hearing for a proposed affordable housing development on 39 acres of land at 702 South Navigation Blvd. in District 3.
The City Council approved a change in zoning from the Light Industrial District (IL/SP) with a Special Permit to the Single-Family 4.5 District with a Planned Unit Development (RS-4.5/PUD) to allow for the new development to be the applicant, GMG Partners.
According to a press release, the proposed planned-unit development will be custom manufactured homes with an average lot size from 3,200 to 4,000 square feet. The community will have on-site management, with the existing property – a former burrow pit for the excavation of sand and other material – being restored to accommodate the subdivision.
A second reading of the ordinance is scheduled to take place at the Jan. 12 City Council meeting.
