Value of Basic Materials company Uranium Energy Corp. (UEC:ASQ) based in Corpus Christi rose 33.8% on Sept. 28

Value in Basic Materials stocks rose 12.4 percent on Sept. 28 from the previous day.

The strongest performing Basic Materials company in Texas was Huntsman Corp. (HUN:NYQ), sitting 1,991,778.8 percent higher to sell at $24.75.

Franklin Mining Inc. (FMNJ:PKC) fared the worst among Texas companies, suffering a 61.6 percent drop to $0.01.

Among Corpus Christi companies, Uranium Energy Corp. (UEC:ASQ) saw the highest rise in value of 33.8 percent on Sept. 28.

The Consumer Discretionary sector was the daily best-performing sector on the market.

Financials was the worst-performing sector.

Healthcare and technology stocks are viewed as the safest bets for long-term gains.

Besty Kuekcer with Benzinga.com said healthcare-related stocks, such as hospital conglomerates and insurance companies, have weathered numerous economic crises and still make a profit, suggesting that they are generally a stable investment.

While technology stocks can be more risky, given the boom-bust nature of new tech companies, Kuecker recommended a diverse portfolio of tech companies to strike it big when companies succeed or sell to other larger companies.

For short-term investments, Kuecker recommended “consumer discretionary” stocks, which are sensitive to economic changes but can rise greatly on the back of a strong economy.
