How many white students were enrolled in Premont ISD schools in 2022-23 school year?

There were 23 white students enrolled in Premont ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 53.3% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Premont ISD schools welcomed 757 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, white students comprised 3% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

Premont ISD roughly covers schools within Jim Wells County and has a main office in Premont.

Among the three schools in Premont ISD schools, Premont Collegiate High School recorded the highest enrollment of white students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of 16 students.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
