There were 172 white students enrolled in Bishop CISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 6% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Bishop CISD schools welcomed 1,410 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, white students comprised 12.2% of the student body to be one of the most represented ethnicities in the district.

Bishop CISD roughly covers schools within Nueces County and has a main office in Bishop.

Among the five schools in Bishop CISD schools, Bishop High School recorded the highest enrollment of white students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of 62 students.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
