On January 21, 2025, Congressman Cloud emphasized the significance of border security for his district. He stated that "Border, Border, Border — those are the top three issues in my district. We have got to secure the border and President Trump, soon to be DHS Sec Kristi Noem, and Tom Homan understand that."
Later on the same day, he expressed enthusiasm about working with Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene on governmental efficiency.
