Congressman Michael Cloud, representing Texas' 27th district, has been vocal on social media regarding government spending and public service. Cloud, who succeeded Blake Farenthold in 2018, shared his views through a series of tweets.

On February 11, 2025, Congressman Cloud expressed concerns about government spending. He stated that the transparency brought to light by "@DOGE & @elonmusk" reveals "a money laundering scheme for left-wing ideologies." He urged Congress to take action and defund what is being uncovered. Cloud encouraged the public to "tune in to @DOGECommittee’s hearing" scheduled for February 12, 2025. "The transparency that @DOGE & @elonmusk have brought to light shows that a lot of our gov’t spending has been a money laundering scheme for left-wing ideologies."
