Congressman Michael Cloud recently expressed concerns via Twitter regarding journalism and government actions related to taxpayer-funded organizations and union agreements. Cloud, who represents Texas' 27th district, has been a member of Congress since 2018.

In a tweet posted on March 26, 2025, Cloud cited a saying from his uncle, "“Never let the truth get in the way of a good story.” It was funny when talking about weekend fishing trips, but when it comes to journalism, that's troubling." Cloud criticized the allocation of taxpayer dollars to organizations such as NPR, which he accused of prioritizing "leftist activism over the truth."

At a later time on the same day, Cloud shared his thoughts on a statement by the NPR CEO, who claimed "Our reverence for the truth has become a distraction that is preventing us from finding consensus and getting important things done." Cloud interpreted this as a preference for groupthink over truth-seeking.

In another tweet posted on March 26, 2025, Cloud addressed actions taken during President Biden’s presidency, stating, "In the final days of Biden’s presidency, his administration rushed to lock in union agreements that would tie President Trump’s hands for his entire term.” Cloud suggested these agreements were influenced by unions with deep political biases, noting their past financial contributions.
