Congressman Michael Cloud, currently representing Texas’ 27th district, shared his insights via social media, covering topics from defense spending to economic opportunities in Greenland. Cloud has served in Congress since 2018 after succeeding Blake Farenthold.
On April 29, 2025, Congressman Cloud expressed concerns regarding federal expenditures on military defense. In his post, he highlighted what he perceives as misallocation of resources. He stated, “There are outdated legacy systems still being funded instead of investing to ‘where the puck is going.’ This is a frustrating experience for taxpayers watching from home—Congress is spending nearly $800 billion on defense, yet we can’t shoot a drone down. That is concerning.”
The following day, on April 30, 2025, Cloud communicated positive news for Texas’s agriculture community. He simply noted, “Good news for Texas farmers!” Though the details were brief, the message suggested beneficial developments for local farmers.
Later that day, Cloud discussed the strategic significance of Greenland. He remarked on its economic value and potential alignment with U.S. interests. His statement read: “From the top of the world, Greenland is close to Russia, making it strategically important. It’s rich in not only rare earth minerals, but full of economic potential. At the very least, we need a deeper partnership—if not Greenland becoming part of the US, as President Trump has”
Michael Cloud, born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in 1975, is an alumnus of Oral Roberts University and resides in Victoria, Texas.
