Windsor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Corpu, located in Nueces County, was owned by Dewitt Medical District as of the first quarter of 2026, according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Dewitt Medical District has maintained ownership of this nursing home since Jan. 1, 2015.
The center operates as a for-profit nursing facility.
During the same quarter, the facility earned a five-star CMS rating, surpassing Texas’s state nursing home average of 2.7. CMS evaluates these ratings based on health inspections, staffing measures, and the quality of care for residents.
CMS data show the facility cared for an average of 110.6 residents per day during the period, with 120 available beds. At present, it is not hospital-affiliated.
In the first quarter of 2026, Windsor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Corpu received three fines totaling $12,237 and was assessed three penalties.
There were eight for-profit nursing homes in Nueces County overall.
As the U.S. Census Bureau estimates, the nation’s older population is growing, while the numbers of younger individuals are declining. Between 2020 and 2024, Americans ages 65 and older rose by 13%, and those under 18 dropped by 1.7%. The nation’s older population has climbed sharply since 1920, expanding from 4.9 million to over 61 million by 2024.
Research from a 2021 study indicates nearly half of this cohort—about 28 million people—may require long-term services and support. The study also suggests that more than a third might eventually need nursing home care.
“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
