Corpus Christi voters will go back to the polls on Dec. 15 to settle runoffs for mayor and two City Council seats.
Four incumbents kept their seats on the Council, and unofficial results show voters also approved the City of Corpus Christi’s Bond 2020 Program for $75 million with 42 infrastructure projects, a city news release reported. Streets will get $61 million, parks will receive $18 million, and public safety will get $2 million to replace Fire Station No. 3 on Morgan Street and to build a new police training academy complex.
Mayor Joe McComb faces Councilmember Paulette Guajardo in the mayoral runoff. Rachel Ann Caballero and Billy Lerma will be on the runoff ballot for District 1. Greg Smith and Kaylynn Paxson face off to decide the District 4 seat.
The City Charter requires a majority vote of more than 50% to win the seats.
John Martinez and Mike Pusley join Michael Hunter as members at large after winning their elections. Ben Molina (District 2), Roland Barrera (District 3) and Gil Hernandez (District 5) retained their seats in the election.
Early voting will be from Dec. 7 through Dec. 11, with the runoff on Dec. 15. Council members will be sworn in for two-year terms on Jan. 12.
