CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The Corpus Christi Police Department (CCPD) invites residents to take part in the 40th annual National Night Out (NNO) on Tuesday, October 3. NNO is a drug and crime prevention event celebrated annually in our city to strengthen police-community partnerships and promote awareness, safety, and unity in our neighborhoods.
Citizens are encouraged to celebrate by organizing neighborhood events such as block parties and cookouts. Citizens can also participate by simply turning on porch lights between 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.
A National Night Out kick-off celebration will take place on Tuesday, October 3, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Academy Sports & Outdoor Store parking lot, 5001 S. Padre Island Drive. The event will include a welcome by CCPD Lt. Kody Harrison, an invocation and benediction by Chaplain Antwine Charles, a proclamation reading by Chief of Staff Alice Acuña, and remarks by City Manager Peter Zanoni. Police Chief Mike Markle and Command Staff will participate in a ceremonial “lighting of the porch light” planned between 4:00 p.m. and 4:45 p.m.
The community and media are welcome to attend the kick-off celebration.
