CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – Looking for a chance to give back? Join in the effort to plant 50 trees at a local city park. The City of Corpus Christi, in partnership with TXU Energy and the Texas Trees Foundation, is hosting a community tree planting event at Hans and Pat Suter Wildlife Refuge on December 2, starting at 9:30 a.m.

The event will include professionals who will demonstrate how to plant trees and will provide all the necessary tools for the planting. Corpus Christi's electricity contract with TXU Energy provides nearly $300,000 for 400 new trees through a donation from TXU Energy and TXU Energy GreenBacks SM.

The CommuniTree-CC initiative aims to increase the number of trees and greenspace throughout the city, particularly in underserved neighborhoods. With the guidance of the Texas Trees Foundation, the project will strategically plant trees in areas that could help reduce the urban heat island effect and increase the urban tree canopy.

This event is the second opportunity to volunteer for this project, with the first 85 trees already planted on April 29. Join in the fun and make a positive impact on your community!

Since 2002, TXU Energy has partnered with customer cities, counties, schools, and nonprofit organizations to provide more than 300,000 trees through its TXU Energy Trees for Growth program. Through these donations, the company has helped generate environmental savings and health benefits valued at approximately $37 million annually during the life of the trees.
