Congressman Michael Cloud, representing Texas’ 27th district since 2018, has recently expressed his views on social media regarding Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives and sanctuary city policies. Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1975, Cloud graduated from Oral Roberts University in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He resides in Victoria.
On March 5, 2025, Congressman Cloud tweeted about DEI initiatives: "Restore merit and end DEI!" In a follow-up tweet posted shortly after the first one on the same day, he reiterated his stance with "Dismantle DEI".
Later that day, Cloud addressed sanctuary city policies through another tweet. On March 5, 2025, he stated: "Sanctuary city policies put Americans at risk. If law enforcement has a criminal illegal in custody, these cities should hand them over to ICE—not release them back into our communities. This is common sense, saves taxpayer dollars, and keeps our communities safe."
