CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – On September 11, the community is invited to join the Corpus Christi Fire Department and participate in three special events to commemorate 9/11: the 9/11 Memorial Ceremony at Sherrill Veterans Memorial Park, the fourth annual 9/11 Memorial Workout at Whataburger Field hosted by the United States Coast Guard (USCG), and the 9/11 Memorial Walk hosted by the Refinery Terminal Fire Company (RFTC).
Event information is provided below.
- The 22nd Annual 9/11 Ceremony at 9:00 a.m. at Sherrill Veterans Memorial Park.
- The fourth annual 9/11 Memorial Workout at Whataburger Field will include both a private and a public workout. The gates will open at 7:30 a.m., and the event will begin at 8:56 a.m. with the Presentation of Colors, followed by the National Anthem. Immediately afterward, a private workout only for first responders, military, and JROTC members will take place from 9:00 a.m. to approximately 9:50 a.m. At 10:00 a.m., the public will be invited to participate in a workout; however, the public is invited when the gates open at 7:30 a.m.
- The 9/11 Memorial Walk starts at the Art Museum parking lot in front of the American Bank Center.
The events are a tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of those who lost their lives on 9/11, as well as the first responders and military personnel who continue to serve and protect our communities.
