Cost of college went up for all students at Del Mar College

In-state tuition and fees rose 2.7 percent for 2018-19 at Del Mar College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Texas residents paid $4,029 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $53 more than the $3,976 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 32.4 percent more than residents this year, or $5,334. Their price tag grew 8 percent from $4,938 in 2017-18.

About 97 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Texas residents. About 1 percent are residents of other states and 2 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 69 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 310 students received grants or scholarships totaling $1.7 million and 66 students took out student loans totaling more than $212,523.

Including all undergraduates (11,867), 4,564 students used grants or scholarships totaling $20.3 million, and 952 students took out $2.9 million in federal student loans.
