How many students were enrolled in West Oso ISD schools in 2021-22 school year?

There were 1,969 students enrolled in West Oso ISD schools in the 2021-22 school year, a slight decrease from the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 50.5% of them were boys, and 49.5% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were Hispanic, representing 87.8% of the West Oso ISD total enrollment.

West Oso ISD roughly covers schools within Nueces County with its main office in Corpus Christi.

Among the five schools in West Oso ISD, West Oso High School recorded the highest enrollment of 580 students in the 2021-22 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
