Freer ISD welcomed 760 students in 2021-22 school year

There were 760 students enrolled in Freer ISD schools in the 2021-22 school year, 2.9% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 50.7% of them were boys, and 49.3% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were Hispanic, representing 93.3% of the Freer ISD total enrollment.

Freer ISD roughly covers schools within Duval County with its main office in Freer.

Among the three schools in Freer ISD, Norman M. Thomas Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 381 students in the 2021-22 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
