Mathis ISD Education: 1,443 students were enrolled in schools in 2021-22 school year

There were 1,443 students enrolled in Mathis ISD schools in the 2021-22 school year, 4.1% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 53.9% of them were boys, and 46.1% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were Hispanic, representing 87.7% of the Mathis ISD total enrollment.

Mathis ISD roughly covers schools within San Patricio County with its main office in Mathis.

Among the four schools in Mathis ISD, Mathis Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 454 students in the 2021-22 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
