Enrollment at Ricardo ISD schools decreased by 4.4% compared to previous school year

There were 625 students enrolled in Ricardo ISD schools in the 2021-22 school year, 4.4% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 50.6% of them were girls, and 49.4% were boys.

Data also shows that the majority of students were Hispanic, representing 85.9% of the Ricardo ISD total enrollment.

Ricardo ISD roughly covers schools within Kleberg County with its main office in Kingsville.

Among the two schools in Ricardo ISD, Ricardo Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 373 students in the 2021-22 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
