Santa Gertrudis ISD Education: 823 students were enrolled in schools in 2022-23 school year

There were 823 students enrolled in Santa Gertrudis ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 5.4% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 50.2% of them were boys, and 49.8% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were Hispanic, representing 77.6% of the Santa Gertrudis ISD total enrollment.

Santa Gertrudis ISD roughly covers schools within Kleberg County with its main office in Kingsville.

Among the two schools in Santa Gertrudis ISD, Santa Gertrudis School recorded the highest enrollment of 438 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
