There were 3,952 students enrolled in Calallen ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 2.2% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 53.1% of them were boys, and 46.9% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were Hispanic, representing 65.3% of the Calallen ISD total enrollment.

Calallen ISD roughly covers schools within Nueces County with its main office in Corpus Christi.

Among the six schools in Calallen ISD, Calallen High School recorded the highest enrollment of 1,180 students in the 2022-23 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
